Laura had an ortho appt. She's finally getting the palate expander out soon. She has to get something else put in until they put the braces on later down the road. Some of the kids have a dentist appt Monday. Hope it'll be a good visit. But so far so good as far as no cavities and stuff like that....just one set of braces so far so crossing my fingers it'll stay that way. Dental stuff can be expensive.
I've been walking more lately. I finally feel comfortable again walking in my own neighborhood. It's been awhile. Savannah loves being strolled around. Jonah and the girls are my walking buddies. The weather's getting so much nicer and more fall-like.
We got a call from the sheriff's office warning people in the community, because there's been reports of mail boxes getting damaged from m-80's explosives. I thought of our mailbox getting smashed and it might be worth it to see if there's any connection, and mention the mud-encrusted, male boot prints in front. You never know how things link together. That's pretty dangerous putting explosives in someone's mailbox with kids getting the mail, or anybody for that matter.
Brandon's working with his dad today. it's been a slower week as far as yard work because the grass is drying up. We still have some painting though that needs to be done, and the neighbors have some deck staining and stuff like that. It's always something to do. He got his SAT prep book yesterday, finally, and looking forward to taking that and some college courses. He was looking over the vocabulary section of the test....it's always good to learn meanings of new words when preparing for this test....or life:) And my word of the day--insidious means entrap INSIDIOUS (adjective) The adjective INSIDIOUS has 3 senses: 1. beguiling but harmful; 2. intended to entrap; 3. working or spreading in a hidden and usually injurious way.
It's getting time to buy hay again for the horses, probably in the next couple of months. I haven't talked about them much lately, but they're still hanging out enjoying the life of a pampered, old horses (which they deserve). The kids don't have as much interest anymore, plus a horse is big and dangerous where little kids are concerned...well, even with adults (I've been stepped on twice by their big feet). But they're old horses and no one is gonna want them in this economy. I'd be worried if they'd be taken care of, and i know we will...so that's what we'll do as long as we can. And it wouldn't be the same if we couldn't go down and see them. Someone wanted to board a horse on the land, but insurance and all that's an issue. One little thing happens and we get sued...not worth it. Unfortunately, you can't trust some people like you use to....that and oh.....back when we first got the land to put the horses on a few yrs ago...our old horse, Maude, who was on her last legs, literally, (an old horse... nobody but us wanted to take care of) and a person behaved very brat-like to my husband, knowing nothing about the story (which is usually the case when people act like brats)...and insinuating stirring up trouble with the county....Anyway the saying about ...."Be careful...the toes you step on today, may be connected to the feet you have to kiss tomorrow".
I think today we might go pick some more apples and pears off the tree and feed them to the horses. It's a shame for them to go to waste. They'd be so disappointed if they don't get some. Too tart for my tastes but they don't seem to mind.
I sort of feel like painting again. Kenny bought me some supplies way back at Christmas that I haven't used yet, but maybe there's time today. We'll see:)
