It's been one week already?! The weeks are flying by...I wish it wouldslow down a little bit. Brandon just left to help a neighbor with a yard sale. Yesterday, I saw a wicker table on the back of his truck for sale and asked him how much he wanted for it, but he said I could have it. That was so nice! So now all I have do is get some white spray paint and set some flowers on it next spring. Some of our wicker furniture is deteriorating after having it nearly a decade. A friend of the family who's since passed away gave it to us gently used. I always wanted a nice front porch to sit on, so I've been enjoying sitting there watching our kids running and playing, visits from family and celebrations over the yrs... So there are lots of good memories from our front porch. That's what I was hoping for when Kenny built it.
Let's see....what else this week....I've spent way too much time searching for fall shoes. Out of all the shoes out there, I haven't found much of anything i'm excited to buy online. Maybe I'll just go out and try some on. I guess it's always better to try them on first anyway. And I really need another pair of cute boots. Summer shoes are a whole lot easier though...I could buy lots of those. I don't enjoy winter for the most part. I guess the few good things about it is the cozy warm fire, hot drinks, warm blankets, getting more indoor projects done, and reading good books. But other than that, I'm going to miss the warm weather and opening the doors and windows, and sandals, no coats, etc. It's so much harder dressing kids in the winter.
We packed some beach toys and chairs. We have way too many sand buckets and toys. I had forgotten that we had some from last year, gone unused since we didn't get to go (last year's vacation my view was from a hospital window watching the Lifeguard 10 transport helicopter fly in during what was hoped to be sitting on a balcony hearing the waves crash and people-watching on the beach). Oh well....at least we have plenty extra buckets and shovels in case some of them break, which I'm sure they will. Hopefully we'll get lots of new seashells for our seashell garden.
I have a drs. appt. tomorrow. Can't believe it's been 6 wks since the last one. Decisions, decisions....I don't like making them sometimes. There are way too many on a daily basis. Sometimes I just want someone to make them for me.
I was just reading something on how to make soap. If someone wants to make their own laundry soap.....that's great. To me it's easier to just buy it. The extra cost is worth it to me. So thankful for the century we're living in where we don't have to make everything we use. I'm much more realistic about what we can handle now and also what we enjoy. I guess in retrospect it's a fun idea when you're first starting out and have the extra time.

We had a picnic at the peaks Sunday. Kenny packed a whole, delicious picnic lunch for us (a nice husband to do that). The food was really good, but the gnats were terrible. We enjoyed it anyway. The kids played in the creek and found a really strange/ugly-looking green caterpillar that kept their interest for a little bit. Then we left the buggy, picnic area and took a walk and watched some local artists paint around the lake. Ben took off up in the woods and I had to send Brandon after him. He was fine, he just likes to explore. Then we got the kids some ice cream at the little gift shop. I only took the older ones in with me so we could make a quick decision. It's not wise to take little kids in to try to decide what kind of ice cream they want when there's 10 different choices. They were completely satisfied with their orange push-up bars Laura and I chose. And yes all the kids like ice cream...Ben especially. Not sure where that rumor started.
I'm decluttering again. Do we ever stop? It doesn't seem like it. Anyway, I found a new pack of boy onesies that I never used for Jonah. I'll have to see if there's anyone who can use them. I was planning on giving a whole stack of new maternity clothes away to the next person who gets pregnant. Kenny took them to donate instead by accident. Darn. Oh well....i guess someone will get to use them, but I really wanted someone I knew to have them. Half the stuff I didn't even get to wear because of Savannah's early delivery. I use to love wearing maternity clothes. I can remember on our first baby I started wearing maternity shirts before I was barely showing because I was so excited. I couldn't wait. And then through all the pregnancies, I've always loved my baby belly. I won't have any more need to wear maternity clothes (not that I don't think baby bellies are cute and didn't enjoy mine)....I guess I wore them just enough times and went through too many hard things to want to do it again. I much prefer them on the outside at this point of my life where I don't have to worry ever again about bad things that happen to babies inside mommy's tummy or the mom carrying them. Very stressful. Now I just have to deal with things that could happen on the outside, but I try not to dwell on it too much if I can help it (easier said than done). The truth is I'll always worry about my kids, as babies and young adults, but I do have limits on how much I can deal with, so I have to let some things go.
I took some of the kids to grandmas (after school of course;)......and after having them clean up their tea set and school books and sweep scattered, shattered pieces of hammered rocks off the driveway that a certain little girl forgot to do (Livy was experimenting with Ben's hammer:). We're working on getting the younger kids to clean up one project before we start another one. It's much neater around the house that way. In a house full of kids, there can be a lot of projects going on and we'd be living in quite a lot of chaos if we didn't clean up our messes. So after that, Ben got his helmet to ride his dirt bike at the farm and car he painted he wanted to show to grandma and off we went.
We have some packing to do.....well, a lot of packing....let's be honest....we've got 10 people....so that would be more than just some packing. Before we go, I need to vacuum, clean bathrooms, wash sheets, wash clothes, prepare animals for our time away.....the bug man is coming tomorrow for the annual invasion of the pesty assassin bugs, aka stink bugs (I hate them), then we have to clean the spray residue from the windows. I washed my curtains last week (they look so much fresher and pretty), the rug for the second time because it got dirty again thanks to one of our little furry friends. I want the house to be clean when we come back. So better get busy.....time's a-wasting.
