labor day weekend

I'm back after taking a little break. Last week was no busier than usual...but it's usually busy, that never changes. But we only had 1 appt. for Laura's ortho stuff. She's done for about 3 mos. Wouldn't you know I'd make her next appt on the exact same day as her Taylor Swift concert....so I quickly changed it when I realized my mistake. Hopefully her tooth will come down so she won't need surgery. Some older ladies were trying to help a young mom with braces on how to feed her cute baby (she reminded me of Audrey as a baby), well, i'm sure they thought they were helpign but it came off as they knew better than mom did. I was thinking to myself, just because she's young doesn't mean she doesn't know what she's doing. She was sort of quiet and took their advice politely, but I could tell by her look of uncomfortableness and explaining that her baby had just had her bottle, she was probably thinking the same thing I was....let her mother her own child...she'll do fine. That reminds me...when I got married, I still had braces on and got lots of advice like I didn't know which way was up....being so young, I guess people felt they had the right. Mom came down the first part of the week and did a little of this and a little of that. One school week down for some of the kids. KC got his big tattoo. A good way to commemorate his upcoming b.d.

We went on a family outing over the weekend. Left much later than we should've. After driving an hour and 15 mins, and getting off course, finally arrived, and only had an hr and a half before they closed at 5.....we need to go to places that stay open until much later. But we got to see everything we wanted to see though so everything turned out fine in the end. We looked at some pictures of people and their families from the civil War era and we had more kids than they did, at least the ones in the pictures. Interesting. Come to think of it we have more kids than most people we know, although there's much bigger if you look at the big family sites. I'm so relieved we're staying where we're at. I always thought my grandma had a huge family with 5. Not so big after all. Actually, I use to think 3 was big when I was a little girl because there were only 2 of us....but no, it's not. We stopped by and got some burgers and fries or chicken sandwiches, salad, or whatever everyone wanted. Saw a lot of VT fans driving home--orange and maroon everywhere. The first big home game of the season I guess.

My brother and his family came by this weekend. the cousins had fun playing....going to the horse field, shooting toy guns, feeding the hens, ben drove his dirt bike....yep, so it was a fun visit. Scott helped Ben put a toy car back together. He and Ben are like kindred spirits as far as liking anything automotive. Then we went swimming....it was so hot yesterday. They swam until after dark with the pool lights. The lights made it pretty. Swimming season is probably over for the summer, at least here, because it's supposed to get cooler and rainier this week. the summer went by too fast. It's nice to squeeze out a little more when we go to the beach soon.

Ben and Emily got to see some trains today:) They had so much fun! Ben loves anything cars, trucks, trains, lawnmowers.....basically anything with an engine that has a steering wheel. Then Kenny took most of the kids to the farm. I think he was going to target shoot or something like that, while the little ones play at grandma's.

I still haven't read all of Sunday's paper from yesterday. I got back so late last night it put me off schedule a little bit. Maybe I can do that while the house is somewhat quiet. That could change with Savannah here, but she's content and happy at the moment. She's such a good baby though. I'm so glad she has an easy, sweet personality being our last one. She nearly stood by herself today....so tiny to be thinking about walking, but I bet it won't be long.
