this week

Let's see....what's been going on around here? Well, just a little bit ago, Kenny was down at the horse field chasing dog's away again. They're our new neighbor dogs who like to pull the horse's tails and bark annoyingly at them. Bunny wants to kick their teeth out....in fact, she's tried but can't get a good direct hit. poor horse. She gets so mad. I don't blame her. maybe if she'd send them across the field one good time they'd learn their lesson and stay away (of course with just a bruised ego....no serious injuries....wouldn't want that). Really the same lesson with people, in a way. The kids were telling me that a pesky kid was picking on Ben last night. I asked him if he stood up for himself. he said he did. we told him you can't take nothing off anybody if you want to have any peace....so take care of it right away. I tell them always be nice but that doesn't mean to take anything someone wants to do to you. It can be a set-up for disaster if allowed to go on too long.

Over the weekend, we had a nice night away without the kids....I think other than being at the hospital that's the first time in yrs.....it was back when we only had Brandon. In fact, as we were coming home from our outing, about 14 yrs. ago, that was when i was sick and pregnant with Laura. I remember now...the unnecessary drama of that weekend brings it back to me. So it's been a long time since we've been away. We had dinner, drinks, and a nice place to stay. Still couldn't sleep though. So I watched a funny movie....sort of juvenile behavior but it had me laughing at 4 a.m so that's impressive (could've been the mojitos). Anyway....it was nice that we had a willing volunteer to watch all the kids plus some.....we don't get many nights away too often....so we appreciated it!

Someone called today and wanted to know if we did daycare. I wonder who suggested that? Maybe it's because we have so many kids in the yard? But the answer is no....not in this lifetime. I've done all the paid childcare I'm gonna do. if someone wants to come play and hang out here whenever they want, that's fine, it's a different feeling with that, but no job as a professional, full-time, in-charge babysitter.....not as exciting as it use to be before we had kids and all the money in the world couldn't pay me to do that again.

The older kids and Kenny are excited about the Super Bowl this weekend. I need to run out and get a few things, but I sort of have a headache and don't really know if I want to. but i guess it would be good to get out for a little bit. so we'll see.
it's been an interesting week. a little crazy if i may say so myself. life can be that way sometimes.
i hear music in the background. i bought Laura wii dance party 3. the girls must be having fun with that. and the cats are in trouble I hear in the background. i use to like cats more than i do now but they're not my favorite pet anymore....Kenny's either--lol.
now the question is....what's for dinner? i have no idea. whatever it is, it's gonna have to be easy. maybe chili beans. that's about the quickest thing i can think of right now and we have the ingredients in the pantry. speaking of pantry, i think we might redo our kitchen. not sure when but it'd be nice doing something totally different. we need a change. i don't always like change in other ways, but in this case it would be nice to have a new kitchen. see ya later!
